So, much like gasoline, you pay what you have to. I agree the price should be lowered, but at the same time agree that entertainment wise, this is an incredible value. Releasing them in half seasons, the first half on volume one, the second on volume two, is indeed an effective but annoying marketing scheme. Its mix of drama, noir, and humor, and its truly likable characters, made for terrific viewing. There has never been anything close to it in genre on television since. Tragg (Ray Collins) not far behind, when Perry would spring his client by revealing the real killer on the witness stand. Hamilton Burger would almost be ready to gloat, Lt. He had a playful and flirtatious relationship with Della but every viewer knew that secretly her heart belonged to Perry. William Hopper was the dapper detective, Paul Drake. It was Gardner himself who picked Burr, even though the studio only agreed to let him test for Perry if he would test for Burger too! Barbara Hale was his pretty secretary, Della Street, who kept Perry human and was in love with him. Raymond Burr had some good roles in films, but will always be remembered as Perry Mason.

Perry was the attorney you wanted on your side in a jam. The television show it spawned was fabulous as entertainment, and today is widely regarded as one of the best shows the medium ever produced. Erle Stanley Gardner's books have millions of devoted fans. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone of any age who doesn't at least recognize the name. A good watch with an interesting plot.Perry Mason is as much a part of American culture as apple pie and mom. A good who-done-it mystery that will have you guessing throughout the show. This episode is a breath of fresh air for the viewer. And with the help of Anita Carpenter, wife of dead man, she retains Perry Mason to defend Donna in court. Evidence gather by Lt Tragg points to the young protégé Donna Ross. So it seems that someone gave the man the story to lead police to murder but not enough to actually be a suspect. But with more investigation the claim of murder was just as the man had stated. But his story is filled with holes when Lt Tragg discovers that the man was in another state when the accident occurred. He says he witnessed someone pushing the car off the cliff. A few days later a man claims that it was not suicide but instead murder. Seems Donna and Mr Carpenter was having an affair even though Mr Carpenter was married and at least 25 years older. Before he dies, he calls his young protégé Donna Ross and advised her that he loved her. He was so despondent that he drives in car over the cliff in what the police call suicide. David Carpenter was concert pianist that was involved in an accident that left one of his hands damaged beyond repair. Comes across very well on the screen and will have the viewer interested till the end. Here we have a nice refreshing story that is played well by the actors.
